Are you folks working on a food policy charter up your way? We haven’t started here, and I’m worried that it could spiral into a huge undertaking. And unfortunately the policies which have the greatest negative impact on local food security are provincial or federal ones. So while it might be nice to make some local declarations, we still need a provincial and federal food policy to protect small producers and consumers. And somehow that seems unlikely to happen anytime soon…

I would welcome the opportunity to help develop a food policy. Please advise on how I could participate. Also, nice to hear an update on Michael Abelman! He’s been a major source of inspiration for me since I first began volunteering on an organic farm back in New Zealand. What a treasure to have him in BC.
